About Us

Finally we made it to 1 year(in 2 days time), if you count all the past server that we are on then it should be 3 years already since I first join Asgradios back in 2007. This server has grown SOOO much since then. Man back then boss scripts were never heard of as most of us there never even saw what WoW was like in retails. I still remember people from Ravnica just walk in aggro on Vashj and afk for 2-3 hours and come back to collect the loots lol. Then the serve got closed down because people eventually got bored of the countless bugs in the server and we had no money to sustained the server. Then i got to know a few good friends who are already playing in retails.. they asked me to join them and so i did.

While leveling my warrior in retail, vail called me 1 day and said Asgradios found another host and will be going up and asked me to come back to be a GM again and there i was GM again at Asgradios V2 this time is a bit different more updated compared to V1 and there was also ZA. Then again the program to run WoW private server still at a very early stage and there was alot of bug, we did enjoy it while it lasted, soon some troubles happen on the admin side and vail can’t get into the server to do any update and the owner just don’t care anymore, that day onwards the server is slowly dying as updates can’t be put in and we are like stuck again. Players just left and around the same time my guild in retail just started kicking into high gears and we are downing bosses in raid. So most of the time I’m over at the retail and only have time to login to Asgradios after my raid which was 12am. So without any updates and active GM the server died.

OMGZone.net was actually started by Illusion a fearsome frost mage from Asgradiso V2. He hosted his own server at his home pc for a few of this friends and from there it grew several old players who knew asgradios came to play on his server which eventually get more player than his home pc can handle. Vail having heard about this offered to host the server since he already have his business going and already own several server. He called for a meeting on MSN, that night me vail, jaya,illu and seigfreakz was there(ed. Jono: i was there too!! omgzone.net was my idea >_<”), we came up with the name of Outbreak Multi-Gaming Zone because initially we intended to host several games, namely WoW with me and Illu, Seig on Ragnarok and Vail on Maplestory. The WoW server was a great success instantly because we have our old players from asgradios. Ragnarok got delayed abit because Seig got caught up in his work and Maplestory was not launched because the server was very unstable. In the end only WoW survived, because of the constant update by Illusion and alot of player are coming back to our server. I was still quite inactive as a GM back then because my guild was on the edge of clearing BT we have council on farm and Illidan was wiping us we are pressing very hard everyday to down illidan and get started on SWP before WoTLK hit us. Mind you, I still do my job as GM whenever i get the time.

One day Illusion MSN me tell me he resigned and asked me to take over the admin. I was very shock at that time, I hardly have the time to login to my GM here and now I have to take over the admin on WoW, but I knew nothing of the admin work(updating the server and database maintenance), I mean all this while I only worked in-game. Some how JoN0 came into the picture saying he knew about the works on the server and offered his help. So i teamed up with him and there was no looking back since then, i never knew him before that day and somehow we just clicked, our vision and policy of blizz-like server was the same, No super high drops, No legendary donations items, and donor will not have special privilege everyone is treated the same in game, if the donor break rules even if u have donated few thousand in the server we will still ban you without any hesitation. Then my guild stopped raiding because WoTLK is around the corner for retails and we are still having 30% wipes on Illidan, the raid leader decide to give up and our guild just disbanded because hardcore raiding just took too much out of us, myself my Uni cgpa are dropping like hell and most of our council in the guild work performance dropped also and getting constant pressure from boss to improve work performance. So we decided to disband and we did. After that I finally got some room to breathe and I looked up on the server and learn a whole bunch on working on the admin site, having a computer programming background helped me to catch up pretty quickly.

Till today we are one of the best blizz-like server in Malaysia. None of these would have been possible if not for the generous owners of OMGZone.net Vailancer and Jaya, they are forking out the hosting fees from their own income, also to JoN0 who offered his helping hand even though he knew none of us, my very own GM team <GM>Kumaa and <GM>Kanan, the team will be expanding soon and not forgetting all those players we have sticking with us through thick and thin and also to our few generous donors that has been helping to lighten the burden on vail (stay put we have something good planned for you).

It has been a long time coming and a great first year for OMGZone.net, I really hope to see us grow even more in the next coming year and many years after that. It has been a real pleasure working for you and playing beside you, this server still has so much room and potential to grow and I’m looking forward for that. We here at OMGZone.net strife for quality and will not will not rush for anything just because everyone else has it, unless me and JoN0 thinks that it is ready we will not implement it on the server.
